We will observe World Polio Day with a combination club social and World’s Greatest Meal event at Bay Breeze Guest House, the home and B&B of Becky Jones. Attendees (Rotarians and guests) will be invited to make a donation to PolioPlus. Donations in any amount are welcome, but the suggested donation is the amount you would pay for a comparable meal in a restaurant.
Sunset is at 6:16, and you are invited to come at 6 (or even earlier) to enjoy the sunset and a libation; dinner will be served at 7. There will be easy parking next door (look for signage and a parking attendant). Dress is very casual (jeans), and bring a wrap because it may get chilly, especially on the Bayfront.
For starters, there will be an open bar with snacks of assorted cheeses and crackers (Becky emphasizes “not from Sam’s”). There will be music by Acoustic Harmony from Slidell, Louisiana.
Dinner will be served at three food stations (not a buffet), beginning with Rickie Richey’s world-famous shrimp and grits. The second station will feature pork tenderloin with three sauces, rolls, and baked beans loaded with Conecuh sausage. The third station will include Summerdale slaw, Bill Jones’s special homemade pickles, Copper Pennies (look it up), olives, and other relishes.
Finally, each table will be served a plate of very special cookies.
